A female teacher who was posted from Accra to Gushegu in the Northern Region has appealed to the government to pay the salary arrears owed to newly posted teachers.

According to the teacher, they have worked for 14 months without receiving a salary, despite reporting to their assigned school and performing their duties.

In a video circulating on social media on September 4, 2026, she lamented that despite the financial challenges, she remained committed to her work in a rural community with no electricity.

“Despite all these challenges, I continue to give off my best because I am committed to my work. But how do you expect me to survive under these conditions?” the teacher asked.

The teacher further expressed concern over the government’s plan to pay the outstanding arrears in instalments, arguing that the arrangement would further worsen the financial difficulties faced by affected teachers.

“This is unfair and unjust treatment. I appeal to President John Mahama and the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, to pay all our outstanding salary arrears,” the teacher added.

She appealed to the government to reconsider the proposed instalment arrangement and ensure that the affected teachers receive their full outstanding salaries.
