“The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has held a high-level meeting with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) under the auspices of the Ghana-UK Gold Programme to discuss the development of a GoldBod-EOCO Operational Collaboration Framework,” it stated.
According to GoldBod, the partnership will help the institutions identify and disrupt criminal networks involved in gold smuggling and other illicit financial activities.
The collaboration is also expected to improve transparency and accountability in Ghana’s gold industry and reduce revenue losses resulting from illegal gold trading.
GoldBod said the partnership reflects the commitment of both institutions to protecting Ghana’s gold resources and ensuring that the country derives the full economic benefits from the sector.
