Human Resources Management Specialist, Vida Assimeng-Kwakye, has described sexual harassment in corporate spaces and beyond as a crime that must be treated with the utmost seriousness.

Speaking on Joy 99.7 FM’s Strong and Sassy programme on September 1, 2026, Assimeng-Kwakye emphasised that sexual harassment is not merely workplace misconduct but a criminal act that undermines dignity and safety.

She urged institutions and society at large to confront the issue decisively.

“Sexual harassment in the corporate space and anywhere is a crime; it is wrong. So don’t wait for the person to even clamp down on you. Such things are premeditated when the person comes to you with vulgar words,” she said.

Assimeng-Kwakye further stressed the need for organisations to establish clear policies, reporting structures and disciplinary measures to protect employees.

She noted that silence or inaction can embolden perpetrators and erode trust in workplace systems.

Her remarks add to growing calls for stronger enforcement of anti-harassment laws and workplace reforms as Ghana continues to grapple with cases of abuse across professional and social settings.
