The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, delivered a historic lecture at Howard University in Washington, DC, on August 25, 2026.
The lecture, organised in partnership with the Millennium Excellence Foundation, brought together traditional leaders, university officials and members of the Howard University community to discuss leadership, culture, education and the advancement of people of African descent.

Among those present were Howard University officials and Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith.
The Asantehene is in the United States for a week-long official visit.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the longstanding ties between the two countries.
