New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Organizer hopeful, Chris Lloyd, has stated that his decision to step down as Deputy National Organiser to contest for the position was guided by spiritual direction and not just political ambition.

Addressing a crowd of supporters after filing his nomination forms at the party's national headquarters on August 29, 2026, Lloyd claimed that he had been sent by his ancestors to run for the position in order to save the party.

"My grandfather is the originator of ‘Kukurudu! Eee shie, Rado! Rado’. If you can all recall, it is not normal for the deputy national organiser of the NPP to decide to go back to represent the youth of this country in our party. The reason is spiritual. I have been sent by my ancestors to save the NPP," Chris Lloyd declared.

Chris Lloyd further linked his candidacy to key historical moments in the party's electoral victories, stating that the previous person from Odododiodio who gained the position took the party to power.

"When the first person from Odododiodio who came to this office to pick forms to contest as the national chairman, the NPP tasted power, he led that victory. Today, I am the second person from Odododiodio who came to this office to pick forms," he added.

His remarks come as the race for the NPP national executive positions intensifies.

Following the close of nominations on August 29, 2026, Chris Lloyd joins five other candidates running for the position including Clement Opoku Gyamfi (Kwame Poku CID), Abanga Fuseini Yakubu ("Obiaa be didi"), Michael Osei Boateng (Pope), Vera Oye Bram-Larbi and Kumi Alfred Ababio (Adenta Kumi).
