The National Sports Authority has intensified preparations at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia.

This follows an inspection tour of the facility by the NSA Board and the leadership of the Ghana Sports Fund.

NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says there is optimism that the basic repair works will be completed before the qualifier.

“There is optimism that the basic repair works that need to be completed before Ghana hosts The Gambia in the 2027 AFCON qualifier will be completed on schedule,” he said.

The team inspected the pitch, dressing rooms, media centre, security areas and other parts of the stadium.

Ghana will first travel to Côte d’Ivoire to face the Elephants before returning home to host The Gambia.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Cape Coast Sports Stadium and Essipong Sports Stadium are also receiving attention ahead of upcoming international competitions.

According to the NSA, the works are part of efforts to ensure Ghana’s major sporting facilities are ready to host international matches.
