President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has revealed that the Black Stars’ next head coach has virtually been decided and is already working behind the scenes ahead of the team’s return to action.

The Black Stars are currently without a substantive head coach following the departure of Carlos Queiroz, who left his position after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

With Ghana preparing to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, Okraku revealed to 3Sports that the GFA will appoint a new coach before the team regroups.

“The coach who will lead the Black Stars is 99% in place. The coach who will lead the Black Stars is already working,” Okraku said.

He explained that the process is now at the final stage, with the GFA working to complete the formalities before announcing the appointment.

“We are just at that last line where we have to sign papers and formalize the relationship. We have a machinery in place; we are working,” he added.

The timing of the appointment will be crucial, with Ghana set to face Côte d’Ivoire in their opening 2027 AFCON qualifier.
