Justices Sophia Bernasko Essah has appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting following her nomination to the Supreme Court by President John Dramani Mahama.
The nominations were made in consultation with the Judicial Council, in accordance with the provisions of the 1992 constitution, which requires the President to act in consultation with the Council before appointing Justices of the Supreme Court, subject to parliamentary approval.
Her appearance before the committee is expected to focus on his judicial experience, knowledge of the law, professional record, understanding of constitutional principles, and his suitability to serve on the apex court.
