A joint military and Ghana Police team has arrested 11 persons and recovered weapons and other security-related items during an intelligence-led cordon and search operation at Kromase, near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, 2026, was led by the Combat Team Commander, Major Muktar Saani, as part of Exercise STARLIGHT STRETCH III.
According to a statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces on Thursday, August 27, 2026, the exercise is aimed at enhancing the preparedness of the Ghana Army to respond effectively to emerging security threats.
“The team, comprising personnel from the Ghana Army and Ghana Police Service, searched selected premises based on credible intelligence. The operation lasted until about 0830 hours,” the statement said.

Items recovered during the operation included a pump-action gun, live ammunition, body armour, a locally made ammunition belt and a police uniform.
The 11 suspects and the recovered items were subsequently escorted to the operational base, where they are currently in custody assisting the Police and Military with investigations.
The Ghana Armed Forces said the operation highlights the importance of intelligence-led operations and inter-agency cooperation in maintaining peace and security within the Nkwanta area.
