A Principal Lecturer in Industrialisation and Local Government, Dr Nana Ato Arthur, has commended the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its peaceful regional executives’ elections, which, according to him, “tells how NPP is ready for the 2028 elections.”

Speaking to the media shortly after the Central Regional NPP executives’ elections at Mankessim, Dr Ato Arthur said that with the elections now over, there is a need for both winners and the defeated to come together as a united front to help the party secure victory in the 2028 general elections.

“Without unity, we will not be able to achieve our goal, so I want to appeal to everybody in the Central Region that we should be together to win massively in the Central Region and the country at large,” Dr Ato Arthur stated.

According to him, the elections are over, “Wherever you were, whichever candidate you supported, it is done. It is democracy, and we should be able to build bridges and then move forward for a united NPP for victory in the year 2028.”

Dr Ato Arthur tasked the defeated aspirants to bear in mind that in electoral democracy, in developmental democracy, there is nothing like both a win and a loss.

“You win an election, but it is a win-win situation in the sense that it’s a party that we all support. So your competitor won, you lost, but the party won — so I am pleading with those who won that in our quest to celebrate, we should do that in moderation, because it is one party. And that is exactly what I want to tell those who won and those who lost: it is NPP that has won the elections,” he said.

The Central Regional NPP executives’ elections ended peacefully, with five (5) out of eleven (11) Central Regional NPP executives retaining their positions, and Dr Joseph Kobina Essibu crowned as the newly elected Central Regional NPP Chairman.
