Mostly cloudy weather is expected to persist across Ghana on Sunday evening, August 16, 2026, with isolated thunderstorms and rain likely in parts of the northern, transition and middle sectors.
In a weather update shared on X on August 16, 2026, the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) forecasters said slight rain or drizzle could also affect some areas along the coast and their inland areas.
“Mostly cloudy weather will persist across the entire country tonight,” the update stated, adding that isolated thunderstorms or rain are likely over the northern, transition and middle sectors.
In southern Ghana, mostly cloudy conditions are expected in Accra, Aflao, Anloga, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Sefwi Bekwai, while Ho, Koforidua, Akim Oda and Kwahu Tafo could experience slight rain.
For the forest and transition zones, rain is expected in Kete Krachi, Atebubu and Ejura, with mostly cloudy conditions forecast for Kintampo, Goaso, Sunyani, Techiman and Sampa.

In northern Ghana, thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in Yendi, Tamale, Bolgatanga and Nalerigu.
Wa and Jirapa could also experience rain, while Bole and Damongo are expected to remain mostly cloudy.
The forecast further warned that mist or fog patches may develop early Monday morning, particularly along the coast and in mountainous and forest areas, potentially affecting visibility.
“Relatively cool night and early morning temperatures are expected across the country,” the statement added.
The public has also been cautioned that the state of the sea is rough, while motorists have been urged to exercise caution and drive carefully, particularly in areas experiencing rain and reduced visibility.
