Residents of Bawdie in the Western Region apprehended a suspected thief and forced him to parade through the local market while holding a microphone and speaker to publicly promise he would never steal again.

The incident captured in a video on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on Sunday August 16, 2026, showed local community members parading the young man allegedly caught stealing.

However instead of handing him over immediately to local authorities, the crowd decided to administer a public reprimand to humiliate and deter future offenses.
