Media personality and staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, has said Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah is “speaking out of pain” over how he was treated by some members of the party after it came to power.
Commenting on the clergyman’s recent remarks, Afrifa-Mensah said that although Rev Owusu Bempah may believe the NPP cannot return to power, threatening to curse people who continue to support the party is unreasonable

“If Reverend Owusu Bempah thinks the NPP cannot win, only he has that vision. But saying he will curse people who like the party is not reasonable. God doesn’t even curse people who choose to join a particular party,” he said.
According to him, everyone has the freedom to choose which political party to support, adding that Rev Owusu Bempah himself was once a committed supporter of the NPP before he fell out with some party gurus.
“If a reverend helped you into power and afterwards he does not receive a share of the goodies that came out of it, he will curse you out of pain. But I believe those who acted wrongly were not the NPP itself. If he’s going to curse, it should be those who offended him,” he stated.
Afrifa-Mensah expressed confidence that a new leadership would emerge within the NPP and ensure that those who contributed to the party’s success are duly recognised.
“There’s going to be a new leadership, there’s going to be a new movement, there’s going to be a new direction for our party, and everyone who served well is going to receive what we call the ‘spoils of war,’ where everyone will receive a fair share of everything that comes out,” he said.
He argued that internal discontent arises when only a few people benefit after electoral victory while others who worked for the party are left out.
“If after elections only a small number of people take everything for themselves without sharing with the rest of the people, that is going to bring problems, and pastors will curse us,” he said.
Appealing directly to the founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Afrifa-Mensah urged Rev Owusu Bempah to remain calm, assuring him that under a restructured NPP, those who played significant roles in helping the party would receive the recognition they deserve.
“So, Reverend Owusu Bempah is talking out of pain, but God doesn’t just curse people like that. We plead with him to calm down, and when the party gets back on its feet again, we will respectfully give him everything he’s owed,” he added.
“Rev. Owusu Bempah has cursed the NPP because he did not receive his share after his efforts to help bring the party to power. There is going to be new leadership of the NPP, and Owusu Bempah will get what is due to him.”
