Private legal Practitioner, Justice Abdulai, has called on the president of Ghana to investigate the activities of AKSA in Ghana.

According to him, the activities of AKSA have cost Ghana so much that a criminal investigation into their activities must put several issues to rest.

Justice Abdulai was speaking on Accra-based TV3 when he made this known.

“My call is for the president to act swiftly and decisively and ensure that this matter is nipped in the bud because this originated at the time he was president. This was part of the issues that culminated in his massive loss. This matter has caused us so much, and I think that it has to end in his time.

"It can only end in his time if he puts his feet on the ground to make this work, and I call on the president for a swift criminal investigation into the matter. I think that this is the best way to deal with this issue. It must be a holistic one, with everyone involved. From the day AKSA came to Ghana to today, all contracts that have been entered into with AKSA, because if it is rotten in the head, it is rotten in the heart and everywhere else. We need to look at everything AKSA has done and bring this to an end,” he said.

A former Goldman Sachs Group Inc banker, Kwaku Asante Berko who also served as Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has been convicted for paying more than $1 million in bribes related to the development of a power plant in Ghana.

He went on trial in late July 2026 for allegedly bribing government officials in Ghana to secure the lucrative power plant deal for a client.

Asante Berko, 52, and his associates outside the bank are said to have paid high-ranking government officials in Ghana more than US$1 million in bribes a decade ago to approve the development and financing of the multimillion-dollar power plant, prosecutor Katherine Raut told a federal jury in Brooklyn, New York in her opening statement.
