The Parliamentary Select Committee on Education has intensified its oversight of selected Colleges of Education following concerns over procurement irregularities and other issues raised in the Auditor-General’s reports for the 2024 and 2025 financial years.

The development was disclosed by Parliament’s Education Committee in a post shared on its official Facebook page on August 13, 2026, following
an engagement with management of the institutions.

According to the Committee, the engagement formed part of efforts to examine concerns arising from the Auditor-General’s reports and strengthen accountability in the management of public resources.

Chairman of the Committee, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, expressed concern over procurement irregularities identified at some of the institutions.

He urged management to strictly adhere to procurement procedures and strengthen accountability in the use of public resources.

A member of the Committee, Fred Kyei, also called on the colleges to establish comprehensive risk management policies to help them identify potential challenges and minimise their impact on operations.

The Committee further urged the institutions to prioritise regular in-service training for staff to improve professional capacity and management standards.

The engagement involved a number of Colleges of Education and technical universities.

They included St John Bosco’s College of Education, Gambaga College of Education, Dambai College of Education, Al-Faruq College of Education, OLA College of Education and Peki College of Education.

Others were St Francis College of Education, E.P. College of Education, Amedzofe, Akrokeri College of Education, Wiawso College of Education and Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education.

Sunyani Technical University and Dr Hilla Limann Technical University were also listed among the institutions that appeared before the Committee.

The Committee’s intervention comes as Parliament continues to exercise its oversight responsibility over public institutions, particularly on issues relating to financial management, procurement and accountability.
