A Ghanaian woman has shared how a man she met on Facebook allegedly used a fake marriage proposal and a promised package to scam her of GH¢1,250.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb, the lady who shared her ordeal on Ahenfie TV said she met the man, who introduced himself as Kelvin Addison, about five months ago on Facebook.

According to her, the man claimed he was in the Netherlands and proposed marriage to her after they started talking.

“He told me he was in the Netherlands and proposed marriage to me, and I accepted. He further told me he had been married before, but his wife had died, and he has a kid. He introduced me to his friends and all,” she said.

She said the man later asked for her bank account number and residential address, which she provided.

The woman, who said she had been unemployed for three months, explained that the man later sent her a video showing bags and told her he was shopping for his child in the UK and wanted to get her some of the items.

“He then said he was shopping for his child, who is in the UK, and so he wanted to get some of the things for me,” she said.

She said the man later informed her that he had sent the items through a delivery service and gave her instructions to share the delivery person's number with him when contacted.

“I did exactly that when the number called me. They pressured me for my address, and I gave it to them,” she stated.

According to her, the person who contacted her through the alleged delivery service demanded GH¢1,250 before the package could be released.

“The delivery person who had contacted me then said I should pay GH¢1,250 before I could receive the items, and I paid,” she recounted.

The young lady added that she was later sent pictures showing that the package allegedly contained $10,000, iPhones and rings supposedly sent by the man.

“They further sent me a picture showing me that my package included an amount of $10,000. They even added pictures of iPhones and rings that the white man had allegedly sent to me,” she added.

However, she said the package never arrived despite her making the payment.

Asked why she decided to share her ordeal, the lady said she wants the people who took her money to refund it.

“I never received any package despite sending the money. I am calling on them to refund my money,” she narrated.
