The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled October 3, 2026, for its National Executive Elections, with nominations opening on August 17, 2026.

The timetable, announced in a statement dated August 11, 2026, indicated that nominations will close on August 22, followed by the filing of nominations from August 23 to 27.

Vetting of aspirants will take place from August 31 to September 3, 2026, with results to be published on September 5, 2026.

Appeals against vetting decisions will be heard on September 6 and 7, while the NEC/NC meeting is scheduled for September 10, 2026.

The notice of poll will be published on September 14, 2026.

The party said prospective candidates must have been active registered members for at least two years, be in good standing, have paid their membership dues for at least two years and meet the requirements of the National Vetting Committee.

Aspirants must also secure endorsements from at least one member in good standing from each of the 16 regions.

Candidates for National Youth Organiser must be below 40 years.

The NPP said members of the National Elections Committee would not be eligible to contest.

“Any member of the National Elections Committee who intends to contest shall be replaced by the National Executive Committee,” the statement said.

Nomination form fees range from GH¢8,000 to GH¢50,000. The National Chairman form costs GH¢50,000, Vice Chairpersons GH¢30,000, General Secretary GH¢25,000, other national positions GH¢10,000, and the special wing positions GH¢8,000.

The elections will cover the positions of National Chairperson, Vice Chairpersons, General Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser and Communication Director.

The Electoral Commission is expected to conduct the elections under the supervision of the NPP National Elections Committee and in accordance with the Political Parties Act, 2000 (Act 574).

The National Vetting Committee is chaired by former Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah, while former Attorney General Joe Ghartey chairs the Appeals Committee.

The party said appeals against vetting decisions must be determined within 48 hours, with a further appeal possible to the National Executive Committee.

The electoral college will comprise various party structures, including national, regional and constituency executives, external branch executives, the National Council of Elders, NPP Members of Parliament, TESCON representatives, national patrons, founding members and representatives of the party’s special wings.

For the special wing elections, female delegates will elect the National Women Organiser, youth delegates will elect the National Youth Organiser, while Nasara delegates will elect the National Nasara Organiser.

The NPP said at least one-third of delegates must be present to constitute a quorum at the National Delegates Conference.
