A photograph from 1999 has resurfaced, showing the late and former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, alongside former United States First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at the White House.

The photograph was taken during an official visit of then-President Jerry John Rawlings to the United States.

The image shows the former First Lady walking alongside Hillary Clinton during the welcoming ceremony held at the White House in Washington, DC.

Then-US President Bill Clinton formally welcomed former President Rawlings and Nana Konadu at a ceremony on the South Grounds of the White House.

An official state dinner was also held to honour the late and former President Rawlings and Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The event was notable for its size, moving to the East Room to accommodate high-profile guests, including UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

The visit featured high-level discussions between Presidents Clinton and Rawlings on strengthening the partnership between Ghana and the United States.

It also served as a reciprocation for Bill Clinton's historic trip to Ghana on March 23, 1998.

The two leaders discussed economic cooperation, regional peace and Ghana’s contribution to peacekeeping efforts in West Africa.

Jerry John Rawlings died on November 12, 2020, at the age of 73, while Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, passed away in October 2025, at the age of 76.
