Aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has denied claims that he sacked a former staff member of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC), Dr Gameli Hoedoafia, from his position.

Aboagye said the decision that affected Gameli and other staff was part of a broader process following the organisation's funding challenges.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Aboagye said he had no personal issue with Gameli and insisted he had not terminated his employment.

“I didn't sack him. I have no problem with him, and I didn't sack him,” he said.

According to him, the IMCC, which was fully donor-funded, had not received any inflows since 2020, forcing the organisation to rely on funds already available in its accounts to pay staff and run its operations.

“… when I went to IMCC in 2022, IMCC was fully funded by donors, not by government. So, the staff were all paid from internal resources,” he explained.

“We realised that since 2020, there has not been any inflows into the organisation. So, basically, whatever you have sitting in the account, that's what you're using to pay staff and take care of operations,” he added.

Aboagye said the government subsequently decided to migrate the staff onto the Civil Service as part of efforts to address the funding challenges.

He explained that staff who were being paid through internally generated funds were initially laid off while the necessary processes were undertaken to formalise their migration.

“We wrote to the Controller and Accountant-General, wrote to the Local Government Service, and they seconded staff to IMCC,” he said.

According to him, Gameli and other affected staff were asked to leave temporarily while the organisation awaited financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance.

However, Aboagye said the situation was resolved shortly afterwards, with the affected workers being recalled after clearance was secured.

“And I tell you what, two months after they went, we got clearance from the Finance Ministry and we called all of them back. I called him personally. He came to my office. He brought his CV, brought all his documentation, and then I gave him the details to the Civil Service. And he was employed,” he stated.

Aboagye said he had documentation to support his account of events.

“I have all the evidence here,” he stressed.

Asked whether he had a personal disagreement with Gameli, Aboagye said he did not.

“I don't bear grudges. I'm a Sunday school teacher. I don't hold things against people,” he said.

He also dismissed suggestions that he was particularly concerned about reports allegedly made against him, saying he had learnt over the years to know when to speak and when to remain silent.

“I have done this for a long time. I've learnt from senior members in politics, and I know when to say what and when not to say what,” he said.
