Firefighters from the Northern Regional Headquarters Sub-Station of the Ghana National Fire Service GNFS have rescued a fuel tanker driver and his mate after their vehicle, carrying about 45,000 litres of diesel, overturned at Adubili Yili in Tamale.

According to the Public Relations Office of the GNFS Northern Region in a post on Facebook on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the crew arrived promptly at the scene and successfully freed the trapped occupants, who were handed over to the National Ambulance Service for medical attention.

The post also added that the firefighters were able to cool the tanker and contain the spilt fuel to avert a possible fire outbreak.

"During the rescue operation, two buses collided, with one crashing into a parked fire appliance and damaging its air system," a part of the post read.
