Accra Hearts of Oak have withdrawn from the 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament, citing a clash between the competition’s scheduled dates and the club’s existing programmes.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026,the Phobians said the tournament’s proximity to the start of the new Ghana Premier League season also influenced their decision.

According to the club, participating in the competition at this time would create challenges for their preparations and other commitments ahead of the new campaign.

Hearts of Oak disclosed that they had earlier engaged the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and requested a change in the tournament’s schedule to allow them to participate.

However, the club said those efforts did not result in a change of dates, leaving management with no option but to withdraw from the competition.

“After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time,” the statement said.

Despite the decision, Hearts of Oak expressed appreciation to GHALCA for its efforts in organising the 2026 Top-4 Tournament and wished the association and the participating clubs well.

The club also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship and continued collaboration with GHALCA and the wider Ghanaian football community.
