Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to pray for the party, saying it needs their collective prayers at this critical time.
According to him, all party members must pray selflessly for the NPP to help turn its fortunes around.
Afenyo-Markin made the remarks in an interview on Accra-based Asaasepa FM.
He believes that collective and selfless prayers could help transform the party’s fortunes, just as he believes prayer contributed to the NPP’s victory in the 2016 general election.
“If all your energies are coming together for a cause, there is a greater impact. So, the spiritual people in the party should pray for the party. They should pray selflessly for the party. We should pray for the party; the battle is the Lord’s.
“I remember Cynthia Morrison. She had a group, and they used to pray at Nana Addo’s residence every evening. When we were in opposition, it was the women whose prayers turned things around for the party.
“Having women in your party is good because if they decide to come together to pray, whatever machinations of the NDC will not see the light of day. It was prayer that sustained the NPP,” he stated.
Afenyo-Markin further urged party members to put aside individual ambitions and focus on rebuilding the NPP.
“Prayer will turn things around, and you will see that things will change and that Bawumia becomes the favourite of the people. Let’s pray and stop individual competition,” he said.
