Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare, has described his late Deputy Ambassador, Sanni Jajah, as not only a trusted colleague but also his "beloved brother".

In a post shared on his Facebook page on August 10, 2026, Ambassador Sinare said it had taken him several painful hours to gather the courage and composure to come to terms with the sudden loss.

“It is with profound sorrow, overwhelming grief, and a heart burdened by an indescribable sense of loss that I announce the sudden and untimely passing of my Deputy Ambassador of Ghana to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Alhaji Sanni Jajah,” he said.

Ambassador Sinare said that the fact that Jajah’s death occurred without any clear signs had made the loss particularly difficult to comprehend.

“Alhaji Sanni Jajah was not merely my Deputy. He was my brother, my trusted colleague, my confidant, and a dependable companion in the service of our beloved Republic,” he said.

He said Jajah’s presence beside him in the discharge of their diplomatic responsibilities had been a source of strength, wisdom and reassurance.

According to the ambassador, Jajah’s death represented not only a personal loss but also a major loss to the Ghana Embassy in Riyadh, Ghana’s diplomatic community and the country he served.

He described the late diplomat as a man of “exceptional character, intellectual depth, professional discipline, uncommon humility, and remarkable composure”.

Throughout his service, Ambassador Sinare said, Jajah demonstrated the qualities of a dedicated public servant who was responsible, principled, thoughtful and committed to Ghana’s interests.

“As my Deputy, he stood firmly beside me in the discharge of our responsibilities and contributed immensely to the effective representation of Ghana in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he said.

He further praised Jajah’s counsel, commitment and devotion to duty, particularly during demanding circumstances.

Beyond his official responsibilities, the ambassador said, Jajah was a warm and humane person whose brotherliness touched those around him.

“For me personally, this loss is immeasurable. I have lost a Deputy, but more painfully, I have lost a brother,” Ambassador Sinare said.

He added that he had lost “a trusted confidant, a valued colleague” and a man with whom he shared the burdens, responsibilities, challenges and aspirations of representing Ghana in Saudi Arabia.

“The Embassy has lost a distinguished officer. The diplomatic community has lost a respected colleague. Ghana has lost a committed servant of the Republic. And I have personally lost a brother whose presence, counsel, loyalty, and friendship I shall profoundly miss,” he said.

Jajah’s death, according to the ambassador, had created a painful void that words could not adequately describe.

He extended his condolences to Jajah’s bereaved family, relatives, friends, colleagues and associates, and urged mourners to remember him for the dignity with which he lived and the integrity with which he served.

Ambassador Sinare also prayed for strength and patience for Jajah’s family, children, friends and colleagues as they come to terms with the loss.

He described the late Jajah as “a distinguished son of Ghana, a dedicated diplomat, a loyal colleague, and, above all, my beloved brother."

Sanni Jajah was appointed Ghana's Deputy Embassy in Saudi Arabia on September 11, 2025, by President John Dramani Mahama.

He passed away on the evening of August 9, 2026.
