The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the shooting and killing of a 54-year-old car dealer at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.

The deceased, identified as Mohammed Rahman, was shot dead on August 6, 2026, while his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, was also shot and injured in the incident.

According to the police in a statement issued on August 9, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Greater Accra Region, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the suspect, Adams Adder Almeida, allegedly told investigators that repeated comments by Rahman describing him as “lazy and useless” had affected him mentally.

The police said Adams allegedly admitted to shooting Rahman and his wife during interrogation.

“During interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted to shooting Rahman Mohamed and his wife, Christiana Fosu, on 6th August 2026.

“According to the suspect, he was motivated by his perception that the deceased had repeatedly described him as lazy and useless, which he claimed had affected him mentally,” the police statement said.

Providing more details about the shooting, police said the incident occurred at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, on August 6, after the Weija Police received information that a man and his wife had been shot and needed assistance.

It added that a team of police officers was dispatched to the scene, where they found Rahman and his wife with gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.

Additionally, the police stated that the couple was rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija for treatment.

Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival, while his wife was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she remains on admission and is responding to treatment.

“The victims were immediately conveyed to Finney Hospital, Weija, where Rahman Mohamed was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife, Christiana Fosu, was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment and is currently on admission, responding to treatment,” the statement continued.

The body of the deceased husband has since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.

Following his arrest, Adams allegedly led investigators to a room at Beach Drive Estate where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was found.

Police said the weapon was reportedly hidden beneath a wardrobe belonging to his brother, Bala Bilyon, with further investigations establishing that Adams and Bala lived together in the same room at Tuba.

“Suspect Adams Adder Almeida subsequently led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was retrieved. The weapon was allegedly concealed beneath the wardrobe of his brother, Bala Bilyon, who works with the deceased. Investigations further established that Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon reside together in the same room at Tuba,” the police said.

It was also revealed that Bala worked with the deceased and knew him. He has also been arrested and is assisting the police with investigations.

Adams also allegedly told investigators that the pistol believed to have been used for the crime had been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon.

Police added that investigators subsequently went to Gideon’s residence at Tuba but did not find him there, with efforts ongoing to locate him to assist with the investigation.

“Suspect Adams Adder Almeida further told investigators that the pistol was allegedly given to him by his friend, Gideon. He subsequently led the investigative team to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but he was not found at home. Efforts are ongoing to locate him to assist with investigations. Meanwhile, Bala Bilyon has also been arrested for interrogation,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, the two arrested suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
