A car dealer identified as Kwasi Rahman has allegedly been shot dead by unknown gunmen at his residence in an estate at Tuba along the Kasoa road.

According to reports gathered by GhanaWeb, the 50-year-old was murdered on the night of Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Rahman had recently celebrated his birthday at a surprise party organised by his wife.

Residents, including a niece of the deceased, said the incident occurred when Rahman and his wife were returning from an evening walk. The couple was reportedly about to enter their residence when the gunmen attacked and shot them.

Rahman died at the scene, while his wife sustained injuries and was rushed to a health facility for treatment.

In an interview, the deceased’s niece said the incident had left her deeply saddened, describing her uncle as someone she was very close to.

She recounted how Rahman had supported her over the years, including taking her to school and helping her choose a Senior High School (SHS).

She said his support had played an important role in her life and that his death had been difficult for her to accept.

“I'm saddened by my uncle’s death. I wasn’t expecting something like this to have happened to him. I saw him the previous night, we spoke, and later heard that he had been gunned down. We rushed to his house only to see his lifeless body.

“My relationship with my uncle was very close. He took me to school sometimes when I was in JHS. When I was continuing my education at SHS, he helped me select my schools and sent me to school. He even acquired all my school items,” she recounted.

The young woman blamed the incident on what she described as poor security at the estate.

She alleged that some of the security personnel employed at the estate are often drunk, making it difficult for them to properly guard the area and detect criminals.

“The security in this estate is not tight. The security guys, who are mostly employed to guard the estate, are mostly drunkards,” she added.
Another resident who was well acquainted with the deceased also spoke highly of him, describing him as a very friendly person.

He expressed shock over the incident and questioned how such a tragedy could have happened to Rahman.

“The deceased was a calm person in this area, and we all knew him to be friendly. Yesterday, he came to pass by us with his wife on a walk, and they exchanged pleasantries with us before leaving us. A few moments later, we heard that he had been shot dead, so we rushed to the place to confirm, only to see his lifeless body. We called the police, who later came to the scene,” one of the residents said.

Meanwhile, the police are yet to issue an official statement on the incident or disclose the motive behind the killing.
