Outspoken Ghanaian media personality, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, has announced his decision to end his stay with Onua TV.

Speaking on his popular “Onua Maakye” show aired on August 7, 2026, Captain Smart officially announced his resignation from the station.

According to Captain Smart, he has resigned to focus on other endeavours, adding that he does not intend to return to the station.

“I want to withdraw. I have officially resigned. This isn’t going to be the case where I will come back again. The bosses here may not agree, but I have done my part. I want the man who mic’d me to come and take off my microphone on air,” he said.

Captain Smart additionally noted that his decision to resign was partly motivated by his desire to focus on humanitarian work.

Meanwhile, the outspoken media personality did not explicitly state his main reason for resigning. However, according to reports gathered by GhanaWeb, Captain Smart is said to be considering focusing on his political ambitions.

One may recall that Captain Smart, during one of his shows, vividly declared his intention to contest the Gomoa West Constituency parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“This is to tell you that I want to go and work so I can help humanity. I came to Media General on June 1, 2021, but today ends my stay here. Thanks to everyone who listened to me,” he added.
