President Mahama nominates Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as minister

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Klottey Korle Member of Parliament, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.

The nomination forms part of changes to President Mahama’s ministerial team announced on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Dr Agyeman-Rawlings’ nomination has been submitted to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval, in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The development comes as President Mahama undertakes changes to his government, including the reassignment of some serving ministers and the nomination of new ministers to key portfolios.

If approved by Parliament, Dr Agyeman-Rawlings will take charge of the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, which is responsible for environmental protection, scientific development and technology policy.

Her nomination comes amid renewed government efforts to address environmental challenges, including illegal mining and its impact on Ghana’s forests and water bodies.

Meanwhile, President Mahama has reassigned Works and Housing Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei to the Ministry of Defence.

Ahmed Ibrahim has also been reassigned to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.

Additionally, Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, been nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
