A group of businesswomen are appealing to President John Dramani Mahama, the Attorney General, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to intervene after a court dismissed a fraud case in which they allege they lost more than GH¢13 million.

The women claim they handed over the money to a young man who introduced himself as an agent and promised to help them import goods.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on August 6, 2026, a spokesperson for the group said the case has caused significant hardship for the affected women and their families, and they are seeking urgent intervention to ensure justice.

“The man introduced himself as an agent, and we gave him GH¢13 million to import some items for us,” she stated.

According to the complainants, the matter was reported to the police in March, and the suspect was granted bail.

They said the case proceeded in court through several adjournments but was eventually dismissed, a development they described as worrying.

“The case is before the court, the suspect was arrested in March 2024 and he was granted bail. The case was adjourned several times and eventually it has been dismissed,” the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, they have been waiting for justice but feel the matter has come to a standstill.

“We know the wheel of justice grinds slow, but this one has been extremely slow. This one, it is not moving at all. This one, it has stopped,” she added.

The businesswomen are therefore calling on President Mahama, the Attorney General, and the police to intervene, revive the matter, and help bring closure to what they describe as a long-running ordeal.
