Vinicius Jr has reportedly rejected Real Madrid’s latest attempt to extend his contract, raising fresh doubts over the Brazilian winger’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 26-year-old is believed to have turned down an offer worth slightly more than £360,000 a week, with his camp pushing for a salary closer to that of Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid’s highest-paid player.

Vinicius reportedly wants around €25 million net per season, believing his importance to the Spanish giants and his performances over recent years merit a financial package comparable to Mbappe’s.

The latest rejection has increased the possibility of Vinicius leaving Real Madrid, particularly with his current contract entering its final year.

If the two sides fail to reach an agreement, the club could face the difficult decision of selling him rather than allowing one of its biggest assets to leave for free next summer.

Spanish reports have suggested that the situation is now leaning towards a transfer rather than a renewal, although negotiations have not completely broken down.

Real Madrid are reportedly unwilling to immediately meet Vinicius’ salary demands, leaving both parties with significant ground to cover.

The winger is said to remain calm despite the uncertainty and believes another strong season could strengthen his position at the negotiating table.

That stance has attracted interest from Arsenal, with manager Mikel Arteta reportedly identifying Vinicius as a major attacking target following the club’s Premier League triumph.

Vinicius has made 376 appearances for Real Madrid since joining the club in 2018, scoring 128 goals and establishing himself as one of their most important players.
