Head of Security at Obuasi Senior High Technical School has narrated how students allegedly attacked the headmaster of the school with sticks and cutlasses following accusations that he buried a newborn baby on campus.
In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on August 5, 2026, he recounted that he was inside the school when he heard a loud commotion from one end of the compound.
He rushed outside only to find a group of students allegedly assaulting the headmaster, identified as Zakaria.
“I was inside when I heard noise, so I came out and saw students assaulting the headmaster with sticks and cutlasses. I was lucky they didn’t attack me. The police had to intervene before they stopped,” he said.
He explained that he quickly locked the school gate to prevent the students from leaving the premises while waiting for the police to arrive.
“I locked the gate so they couldn’t come out,” he added.
The security officer said several police patrol teams later arrived at the school to restore calm, adding that he initially feared the situation could escalate further.

“The police came with about four patrol teams. I was thinking the police would fire warning shots, but they didn’t,” he recounted.
He further disclosed that the headmaster’s residence was also vandalised during the disturbance.
“As for the headmaster’s house, it was also vandalised,” he stated.
Chaos reportedly erupted at Obuasi Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti Region after some students accused the headmaster of engaging in ritual activities linked to the alleged burial of a newborn baby on the school grounds.
A source at the school, speaking to OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim on Wednesday, said a student claimed to have seen the headmaster at about 3:00am on Monday burying an object at the school’s dumpsite.
The source said some students later visited the location and discovered what they believed to be a newborn baby buried in a covered hole.
Following the allegations, the headmaster and some teachers reportedly went to the scene, but angry students attacked him.
