Ghanaian lawyer and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has alleged that former concubine of Brigadier-General Amara Camara, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Presidency of Guinea, has been arrested in Ghana following an Interpol request from Guinea.

In a social media post, Barker-Vormawor claimed that Bangoura, a Belgian citizen, was arrested at approximately 5:00 a.m. on August 4, 2026, on her arrival in Ghana from Paris.

According to Barker-Vormawor, Bangoura was previously in a relationship with Brigadier-General Amara Camara, with whom she reportedly has two children.

He further alleged that following a bitter breakup, Bangoura threatened to disclose information known to her about the senior Guinean official. Barker-Vormawor claimed that she subsequently fled Guinea with her siblings, fearing for her safety.

The lawyer also alleged that Guinean authorities later placed Bangoura on an Interpol Red Notice in an effort to compel her return to Guinea.

According to Barker-Vormawor, Bangoura has informed Ghanaian authorities that her life would be at risk if she were returned to Guinea and that she intends to seek political asylum in Ghana.

Barker-Vormawor disclosed that law firm, Merton & Everett LLP, has been retained to represent Bangoura in the matter.

“We trust that due process will be followed in this matter; this time around. A life is at stake,” he wrote on social media.
