Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has opened up about some of the challenges players sometimes face while representing the Super Eagles.

Speaking on the Beast Mode Podcast, the Fulham midfielder said national team duty has not always come with the level of comfort or organisation players might expect at international level.

Iwobi revealed that players have, at times, been required to make their own travel arrangements and even pay for flight upgrades.

The 30-year-old also disclosed that players have had to wash their own kits, while describing some of the training facilities as far from ideal.

“Sometimes you have to book your own flight, sometimes you have to pay for your upgrades. You have to wash your own kit, the pitch was half grass, half astro,” Iwobi said.

He also recalled the pressure from coaches during training, stating that even a misplaced pass could immediately draw a strong reaction from the technical team.

“If you make one bad pass, the coach is screaming at you,” he added.

Despite the difficulties, Iwobi stressed that the experience has not diminished his desire to represent Nigeria while also revealing his love for the dishes.

“I love playing for my country. I love the food,” he added.

Iwobi, who has earned more than 80 caps for Nigeria, has been a regular part of the national team since making his senior debut in 2015.

He has represented the Super Eagles at major tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup.
