The mother of a deceased 21-year-old young woman identified as Becky has recounted the circumstances that she believes led to her daughter's death.

According to the mother, her late daughter, Becky, was allegedly cursed after watching a leaked intimate video on a colleague’s phone at her workplace and discussing it with her friends.

Speaking in an interview on Lawson Afisem, a programme on Lawson TV that focuses on resolving domestic disputes, on July 30, 2026, the mother explained that a married woman’s intimate video had been leaked online.

She said one of the workers brought the video to the workplace on her phone. After Becky watched it, she reportedly discussed it with some friends and the individuals involved allegedly became angry and cursed her.

She stated that the family did everything possible to save Becky's life but their efforts were unsuccessful. According to her, while they were seeking help for Becky, they were informed that someone had allegedly cursed her.

“According to my daughter, she was at work when one of the apprentices came there with the video on her phone, saying that someone had sent it to her and her husband. When my daughter watched it, she realized it was a video in which a man had recorded himself having sexual relations with a woman. However, the woman was no longer in a relationship with the man.

“My daughter said the man did not do the right thing by sharing the woman’s private video. Later, another girl got to know about the matter and called the woman involved to inform her about what had happened. The woman became angry and allegedly cursed my daughter to die,” she narrated.

The deceased’s mother and father, who both appeared on the programme, are now demanding custody of the two-year-old child Becky left behind.

According to the father of the child, Kwame Afrifa, he also did everything within his means to help save his Becky’s life but all efforts proved unsuccessful.

The family accused the child's father of neglecting Becky during her illness. They claim that after her death, he returned to take custody of their grandchild. As a result, they are demanding that the child be handed over to them.

The matter was brought before Lawson Afisem for mediation and possible resolution.
