The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has said his experience working in the financial sector, particularly in banking, played a significant role in shaping his leadership journey.
The veteran politician said he enjoyed his time in banking due to his passion for numbers and the fulfilment he derived from the profession.
He revealed that his performance in the sector opened the door for him to join the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), where he became one of the first persons to be licensed to trade.

Asiedu Nketiah described the opportunity as a defining moment in his career, as he ventured into a new field and succeeded despite the challenges of operating in an emerging market.
“From the banking hall, my love for numbers took me to the newly opened Ghana Stock Exchange, and interestingly, I was among the first licensed to trade on it. No veterans to copy, no worn path to follow. A whole new territory with one constant: numbers, people and enterprises,” he posted on his X page on July 30, 2026, alongside a throwback photo from his time at the GSE.
The NDC National Chairman added that the knowledge and experience gained from the financial sector equipped him for politics and helped shape his leadership approach.
“We learned by building, and built by learning. The experience has served me well in my leadership and governance journey,” he added.
