With the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season set to kick off soon, clubs have entered a crucial stage of their preparations, with several teams racing to strengthen their squads ahead of another competitive campaign.

Defending Champions Medeama SC have emerged as one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market, adding quality and experience as they look to remain among the league’s elite.

The Yellow and Mauves have officially completed the signing of Hohoe United captain Usman Safianu on a three-year deal after an impressive campaign in the top flight. The midfielder was one of Hohoe United’s standout performers last season, featuring in 26 league games and scoring four goals.

Medeama are also pushing to secure the services of Basake Holy Stars winger Prince Tweneboah, with negotiations ongoing between both clubs.

The 20-year-old attacker enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Ghana Premier League, making 32 appearances and scoring ten goals for Basake Holy Stars. His performances made him one of the most sought-after young attackers in the division.

The pursuit of Tweneboah has intensified the growing transfer rivalry between Medeama and Aduana. The 2017 champions won the battle to retain defender Seidu Saana despite strong interest from Medeama, but the Tarkwa-based side responded by beating Aduana to the signing of Emmanuel Annor from Nations FC.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are also active in the market, particularly in the goalkeeping department.

Former Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim is training with the Porcupine Warriors, although no agreement has been reached between both parties. Hearts of Oak have also contacted the former Black Stars goalkeeper as they continue efforts to strengthen their squad.

The Phobians are also close to securing defender Manuel Osei Djan from PAC Academy, with negotiations reportedly progressing positively. Former Heart of Lions forward Mustapha Yakubu has equally trained with the club.

Elsewhere, Berekum Chelsea have moved to reinforce their attack with the signing of former WAFA forward Jamal Haruna on a three-year contract.

Bechem United are also holding firm on the valuation of midfielder Kofi Tompuo, placing a $200,000 price tag on the talented player. The Hunters are unwilling to negotiate below that figure, meaning any interested club must meet their asking price to secure his signature.
