Parents of schoolchildren injured in Thursday’s accident on the Dzorwulu, Accra Mall stretch will not bear the cost of their children’s medical treatment, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has assured.

The minister said the government, with the backing of President John Dramani Mahama, will provide the support needed to ensure the children receive the required medical care while their families focus on their recovery.

Dr Lartey gave the assurance when she visited some of the injured pupils at the 37 Military Hospital, where they are receiving treatment following the collision involving a school bus and a tipper truck.

She also commended the Ghana National F!re Service, the Ghana Police Service, other emergency responders and members of the public for their response, as well as the management and medical staff of the 37 Military Hospital for attending to the children.

The minister said investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing and indicated that she will continue visiting other injured children receiving treatment at different health facilities.
