The headmaster of a school whose pupils were involved in a collision with a tipper truck on the Accra Mall-Dzorwulu stretch on Thursday, July 30, 2026, has confirmed that one of the pupils has died.
According to reports, the children were travelling in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus when it was struck by a tipper truck.
Other pupils reportedly sustained injuries of varying severity in the collision.
In an update by TV3 Ghana shared online on July 31, 2026, the headmaster confirmed that one of the children died following the accident.

Initial accounts from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) indicated that a tipper truck rammed into the rear of the Sprinter bus, which was carrying lower primary schoolchildren believed to be returning from an excursion on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Early reports stated that the number of children on board were about 11, with several injured and receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital and the Police Hospital, including at least one in intensive care.
However, the headmaster also clarified that the bus carried 45-50 children rather than the initially reported 11, with the tipper truck driver having fled the scene
Meanwhile, investigations into the precise cause of the collision are ongoing.
