Suspected armed robbers reportedly attacked some travellers at Akyem Asafo along the Accra–Kumasi Highway, robbing them of their valuables before fleeing the scene.
The incident allegedly happened on Thursday night, July 30, 2026.
In a video shared on X on Friday, July 31, 2026, an eyewitness recounted the incident.
“Thanks be to God, the cars behind were able to turn around and leave. We have found a safe place to stop, and we have called the police,” the eyewitness said.

According to the account, several vehicles had already been stopped by the armed men, who allegedly robbed passengers of their belongings before escaping.
Police were reportedly notified of the incident, but there has been no official communication on the attack or any arrests as of the time of filing this report.
The latest incident has renewed concerns over the safety of motorists using the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
