Former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has disagreed with the Court of Appeal’s decision to acquit and discharge former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu.

He said the prosecution presented enough evidence to prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, arguing that the former MASLOC boss was convicted based on credible evidence.

In a video shared by Citi FM on July 30, 2026, Dame said the reasons behind the former MASLOC CEO’s acquittal should be directed to the current Attorney General.

“Sedina was convicted on very credible evidence and all, and he conducted the appeal. So, find out from the current Attorney General what he feels about the acquittal of Sedina and why Sedina was acquitted. I don't know why she was acquitted,” he said.

Dame also rejected the suggestion that the prosecution failed to meet the required standard of proof in the case.

He said Sedina Tamakloe’s decision to leave the country after the charges were brought against her showed that she was aware of the evidence presented by the prosecution.

“It cannot be the case at all [proving beyond a reasonable doubt]… Sedina actually absconded after she had been confronted with the evidence led by the prosecution. It was not for nothing,” he added.

The former Attorney General further questioned whether the State strongly opposed the appeal that led to the former MASLOC CEO’s acquittal.

“Do you know the kind of opposition that he mounted to the appeal? Was there any opposition at all? I don't know,” he stated.

The Court of Appeal on Thursday, July 30, 2026, overturned the conviction of Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu and acquitted her of charges including causing financial loss to the state, forgery, and money laundering.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine has disclosed that the state intends to appeal the Court of Appeal’s decision at the Supreme Court, adding that the process has already begun.
