A suspect has been arrested in connection with a reported robbery incident near the Ship House area in Tema Community 5 after armed individuals allegedly made away with a large sum of money from a bank.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on July 30, 2026, eyewitnesses said the victim had withdrawn the cash from a bank near Meridian Bank before he was accosted by one of the suspects.

According to the reports, the armed suspect allegedly seized the money and fled the scene in a Toyota RAV4, triggering a pursuit by occupants of a BMW.

The chase reportedly ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a tree after the driver took a wrong turn.

One of the suspects was apprehended at the scene, while the others allegedly escaped with the stolen money.

"The RAV4 crashed into the tree after taking a wrong turn. One of the suspects was arrested, but the others managed to escape with the money," an eyewitness is heard saying in the video.

The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the incident to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover the stolen cash.

The exact amount of money involved has not yet been disclosed, and the police are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
