Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said screening conducted by South African authorities has found that none of the Ghanaians evacuated under the government’s repatriation exercise is on the country’s wanted list.

Addressing a press briefing on Monday, July 27, 2026, Ablakwa said the screening outcome contradicts claims that Ghanaians living in South Africa are involved in criminal activities.

“I would like to place on record that all the Ghanaians who have been screened by South African authorities, none of them has been a subject of interest on the wanted list of the South African authorities,” he said.

He noted that the findings relate to all Ghanaians who have been repatriated so far under the ongoing evacuation programme.

The minister made the remarks after another batch of Ghanaians returned home from South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals.
