The Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has celebrated some of the greatest individual performances in African football history, with only three players ever recording hat-tricks in the tournament.

The list began in 2002 when South Africa's Veronica Phewa etched her name into the history books by scoring the competition's first-ever hat-trick in a 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe, setting the benchmark for memorable attacking displays at the continental showpiece.

Nigeria's legendary striker Perpetua Nkwocha later elevated that record to unprecedented heights.

The four-time African Women's Footballer of the Year remains the only player to have scored four WAFCON hat-tricks, the most by any individual in the tournament's history.

She also produced one of the competition's greatest final performances by netting four goals against Cameroon in the 2004 championship match.

Twelve years later, another Nigerian icon, Asisat Oshoala, joined Nkwocha in an exclusive club by scoring four goals in a single WAFCON match, underlining Nigeria's long-standing dominance in women's football on the continent.

Cameroon, meanwhile, have conceded four hat-tricks, the highest by any team in the competition.
