The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called for action over alleged attacks on properties belonging to Ghanaian business magnate Sir Sam Jonah in Nigeria.

He has urged the country's High Commissioner-designate to Ghana to investigate the matter.

Ablakwa made the appeal on July 24, 2026, when he received the letters of credence of Nigeria's High Commissioner-designate to Ghana, Shehu Ilyu Barde.

Referring to reports concerning Mobus Investments, a company linked to Sir Sam Jonah, Ablakwa said the issue had come to his attention through reports from Nigeria and civil society groups.

"I want you to look into the recent issues of concern with Mobus Investments, Uncle Sam Jonah's business. I want you to take it up because it's good when entrepreneurs invest outside their countries, particularly in Africa," he said.

He stressed the need for African countries to protect and encourage cross-border investments, adding that Ghanaian businesses operating elsewhere on the continent deserved the same support afforded to Nigerian businesses.

"We should support Ghanaian brands anywhere in Africa the same way we support Nigerian brands anywhere outside Nigeria," he indicated.

Ablakwa further stated that improving support for businesses across the continent would help unlock the full potential of Africa's integrated market.

"We need to improve in that respect because if we get it right, with a market of about 1.3 billion people, our businesses will thrive," he noted.

Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate, Shehu Ilyu Barde assured Ablakwa that the matter would be followed up.

"We'll follow up on it and we'll give you feedback," he said, adding that they would work together to help resolve the issue.
