The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has expressed confidence in Ghanaian contractors and engineers executing road projects under the government's Big Push initiative, stating that they have what it takes to deliver quality infrastructure.

In a post shared on X on Saturday, July 25, 2026, Agbodza said he believes local contractors and engineers will rise to the challenge despite concerns about the quality and durability of some road projects.

"But this is a different era. I have trust in contractors and engineers working on Big Push and all other road projects to rise to the occasion," he indicated.

He acknowledged that some of the roads in Ghana that have stood the test of time were constructed by foreign contractors.

However, he stressed that the country now has capable local professionals who deserve the opportunity to demonstrate their expertise.

"This is our Country, Our Opportunity and our Commitment. These are Our Engineers, Contractors and our determination to Build Best. In God We Trust," he noted.

The Big Push programme is the government's flagship infrastructure initiative aimed at accelerating the construction and rehabilitation of roads and other critical infrastructure across the country, with significant participation from local contractors and engineers.
