Ghanaian broadcast journalist and NPP communicator, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, has stated that he had a message from incarcerated Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, to the party in a dream.

According to him, the party stalwart urged everyone to remain steadfast and continue their work.

“I bring you greetings from Chairman Wontumi. I had planned to come to work on Monday, but I saw him in my dream. He spoke to me, and that is why I am here today. He had only one wish, and in that trance he told me he does not want to hear anyone saying, ‘If Chairman Wontumi were around…’,” he said.

He further claimed that the dream compelled him to report to work earlier than planned, adding that Wontumi’s words had given him renewed encouragement.

“Because of that dream and the conversation we had, I had to come to work today. He does not want any of his workers or party members to regret. Instead, he said we should continue with whatever we were doing and even do it more. That alone is enough encouragement for me, and we are going to work for him,” he stated.

Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, was sentenced to 20 years in prison on July 20, 2026, for illegal mining offences linked to the Samreboi concession in the Western Region.

The conviction followed a high‑profile trial under Ghana’s Minerals and Mining Act in which he was found guilty of all six charges.
