On the secondary market, FIFA collects 15% from sellers and 15% from buyers, significantly boosting revenue.

The 2026 World Cup final is expected to become the most expensive sporting event in U.S. history, with tickets on FIFA’s Last Minute Sales portal hitting $32,000 each before being withdrawn.

On the official resale platform, listings soared to as high as $2.3 million.

The record revenue has sparked criticism from fans over skyrocketing ticket prices, costly merchandise, and commercial add‑ons such as sponsored hydration breaks.
