The Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) has announced the commencement of the disbursement of trainee allowances to eligible beneficiaries across the country's colleges of education.

In a statement dated July 18, 2026, the association said the payments are being made in phases, with trainees whose data have been fully validated expected to receive their allowances first.

"The National Secretariat of the Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) is pleased to announce the commencement of the disbursement of trainee allowances to eligible beneficiaries," the statement said.

TTAG expressed appreciation to the government and key stakeholders for facilitating the release of the allowances.

The association specifically thanked the Government of Ghana for fulfilling its commitment to teacher trainees, while acknowledging the roles played by the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF), and other stakeholders.

"TTAG expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government of Ghana for honouring its commitment to the welfare of Teacher Trainees. We also extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) and all other relevant stakeholders whose collaboration has made this possible," the statement noted.

According to TTAG, the allowance remains a vital intervention that eases the financial burden on trainees and supports their academic pursuits.

"The payment of Trainee allowances is a significant intervention that eases the financial burden on Teacher Trainees and supports their academic pursuits by enabling them to meet essential educational and living expenses," it added.

The association further disclosed that the disbursement is being carried out in batches, explaining that payments have already begun for colleges whose trainee data have been successfully validated.

"We are reliably informed that the disbursement is being carried out in batches. Accordingly, payments have commenced for Colleges whose trainee data have been fully validated. The remaining Colleges will receive their allowances as soon as the validation process is completed by the relevant authorities," TTAG stated.

TTAG appealed to trainees who are yet to receive their allowances to remain patient as the process continues.

"The National Secretariat therefore appeals to all Teacher Trainees who are yet to receive their allowances to remain calm and patient as the process continues," the statement concluded.
