Private legal practitioner, Kwesi Botchway Jnr, has questioned the Economic and Organised Crime Office’s (EOCO) explanation for the detention of Dennis Miracle Aboagye, arguing that the agency’s account is inconsistent with the available facts.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Botchway claimed it was inaccurate for EOCO to state that Mr. Aboagye had been under investigation for a year.
“EOCO lied. Dennis Miracle Aboagye was contracted only two months ago, so it is inaccurate to claim he has been under investigation for a year,” he alleged.
According to the lawyer, the timeline presented by the investigative body raises questions about the justification for the arrest.
He further described Aboagye’s detention as arbitrary and lacking a proper legal basis.
“EOCO’s arbitrary and capricious detention of Dennis Miracle Aboagye is pure lawlessness, and its statement attempting to justify the arrest simply does not add up,” he said.
Botchway called for greater transparency and adherence to due process in the handling of investigations, insisting that state institutions must ensure their actions are consistent with the law and supported by clear evidence.
