Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has reaffirmed the government's commitment to upgrading the Ho Sports Stadium into a modern facility capable of hosting CAF-certified competitions.

Speaking during the presidential visit to the Ho sports stadium on Friday, July 17, 2026, the minister said plans are already in place to modernise the venue, stressing that the project remains a key priority in the government's sports infrastructure development agenda.

"Our intention is to be able to modernise this stadium and make it complete so it can host certified events, and that plan is in place. We can assure you that everything will be done to achieve the objective you have set out for us in the area of sports and sports development," Adams said.

The minister also acknowledged improvements already made at the facility, including upgrades to the seating area with support from the Volta Regional Minister.

He noted that the enhancements have allowed the stadium to host competitions at a higher level than before.

Adams further revealed that the National Sports Authority (NSA) continues to face challenges, particularly in the area of technical expertise for facility management and pitch maintenance.

According to him, the authority has struggled to replace experienced technical staff lost over the years, leaving a gap in specialised areas such as field management and turf care.

He said the government is exploring measures to strengthen the NSA's technical capacity by recruiting and training professionals to ensure the proper maintenance of sports facilities across the country.
