Media personality and NPP parliamentary aspirant, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, has been granted bail of GH¢100,000 following his appearance at the Nsuta Circuit Court on Friday, July 17, 2026.

His lawyer, George Oppong, disclosed to journalists after the sitting that Afrifa-Mensah was granted bail with one surety, while six other accused persons were each granted bail with two sureties.

Oppong confirmed that all the accused are now on bail pending further determination of the case.

“The judge heard arguments from both the prosecution and defense before ruling on bail. Counsel pleaded for bail for all the accused persons, which was granted pending the determination of the case. As a result, all the accused are currently on bail,” he said.

“…Okatakyie Afrifa was granted bail of GH¢100,000 with one surety, who must earn a gross monthly salary of not less than GH¢4,000. The six other accused persons were each granted bail with two sureties,” he added.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to August 13, 2026.

Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah was arrested on July 12, 2026, over alleged violence during the NPP Afigya Sekyere East constituency executive elections.

His team alleges he was assaulted while serving a court injunction to halt the elections, while police maintain that his group disrupted the process.
